There’s no denying it – Twisto is almost in its teenage years. It’s independent, confident, and still buzzing with energy (some startup habits are just hard to shake off). But all in all? It’s growing beautifully. Nearly two and a half million people across three European countries have already used Twisto, and soon, we’ll be spreading our wings even further. Here’s a look back at how Twisto’s journey has unfolded.
Riding on Param’s wings – we’re reaching higher: 2025 – 2023
In 2023, Twisto became part of Param, the largest Turkish fintech. Backed by their experience and guided by new leadership, we got to work, and the results didn’t take long to show. In autumn 2024, we launched in a brand-new market: Romania, offering our popular Pay in 4, fee-free and interest-free option on the country’s biggest marketplace, eMag. And we didn’t stop there.
In 2025, we launched not one but two new ways to ease monthly cash flow for our customers in Poland: the option to split payments automatically into instalments after 30 days, and the chance to use Twisto’s deferred payments in-store at Briju jewellery shops. This marked Twisto’s first step from the online world into brick-and-mortar retail. We’re genuinely excited about it – and even more eager to keep pushing boundaries, not just in products, but everywhere.
Fast-paced times, and we were ready: 2022 – 2018
In 2022, we introduced Pay in 3, allowing our customers to split payments into three instalments, fee-free and without stress. It quickly became a favourite, and in 2023, we launched a no-registration version, letting shoppers use it directly at checkout. By mid-year, over 500 online shops were offering it, and people were finally grabbing those festival tickets they’d been putting off “for later.”
Of course, 2020 hit us with that tiny virus (anyone still remember its name?), and it hit hard. Back in 2019, we had big plans – yes, we were eyeing Romania even then, but good things come to those who wait, right? Turns out, the pandemic also brought opportunities. Global e-commerce took off, taking our deferred payments along with it. People embraced digital payments, and we adopted hybrid work models. Today, most of our teams come to the office just a few times a week, with some colleagues even working from other countries. And it’s working. In fact, we’re thriving far more than when we were all crammed together in Prague’s Karlín or Warsaw. Having your own space really does pay off.
From an idea to crossing borders: 2018 – 2013
It all started with an idea. In 2013, we couldn’t understand why half of Czechs were still paying cash on delivery for online shopping, so we decided to change that with Twisto Pay. Payments should be simple, fast, and convenient. We believed people should pay for their online orders only once they were sure they got what they ordered. Today, we call this service “Pay in 30 days.” Still fee-free, of course!
Soon after, we launched Twisto Snap, letting customers pay bills and invoices with just a photo. But that was still only for online.
In 2017, we decided it was time for people to use Twisto in brick-and-mortar stores too, and that Twisto could offer so much more. That’s when the Twisto account with a card was born. It gave customers funds for their monthly shopping, to be paid back by the 15th of the following month, fee-free. And for those who wanted a bit extra, we offered perks like great exchange rates and travel insurance – handy all year round.
Then came 2018, and with it our journey to Poland, where we’ve been thriving ever since. A market four times bigger means four times the challenge and opportunity. Since then, we’ve had offices in Warsaw too – and we truly love it there.
Where we are now, and what’s next
Today, Twisto is like a friend who helps customers shop without stress. With Twisto, people don’t need to worry if that online order will look as good in real life as it did on the screen, or panic over unexpected expenses. Twisto has a solution for it all (and a bunch of awards to show for it 😊).
Twisto is also a team of amazing people who have grown from the original six to almost 200, bringing together different nationalities, perspectives, and a shared sense of humour. And that’s so refreshing.
But most importantly, Twisto is our incredible customers, who inspire us to keep improving and making the world simpler for them.
Thank you for being part of this journey with us!
